Meditation is an intensely personal and spiritual experience. The desired purpose meditation is to channel our awareness into a more positive direction by totally transforming one's state of mind. To meditate is to turn inwards, to concentrate in training our own mind. Apart from the magnificence and grandeur of the natural surroundings, it has a special environment where unity with the divine is possible through contemplation and meditation. And so since time immemorial, ascetics, scholars, philosophers and pilgrim have been drawn irresistibly to these remote and rugged mountains in their personal search for wisdom, inspiration, solitude and happiness. Over the centuries the place has been blessed by these people with an invaluable spiritual legacy that makes the place favorable for the meditations. The itinerary includes three to four day meditations in sacred places with some cultural tours around the country. Our coordinator will try to arrange room inside the monasteries or temples for meditation, but wherever not possible the guests will have to meditate inside the camps.

Bhutan is an abode of Buddhist deities, immortals, and saints in the Himalayas. Scholars wandering yogis, saints and lay pilgrims, have been irresistibly drawn to these remote and uneven mountains throughout the centuries in their search for wisdom and inspiration. Experience the landscapes they have blessed for all pilgrims by following in their footsteps. As you travel to these hidden holy shrines and otherworldly ancient monasteries, hiking through an unspoiled Himalayan environment, you will rediscover this peace and solitude. You will have the opportunity to take part in these special religious ceremonies and rituals being performed by Buddhist monks, nuns, and lamas who live their lives in isolation, devotion and meditation. In the country there are many places to meditate but among the meditation places the popular meditation places are Taktsang monastery in Paro and Tango Cheri in Thimphu.

Taktsang monastery is the most famous Bhutanese monastery located in the Paro valley, western Bhutan. Perched on a cliff 900 meters above the valley. It is also known as "Tiger's Nest" because Guru Rimpoche (Guru Padmasambhava ) is said to have flown on the back of a tigress in the 8th century. He then meditated in a cave here for three months where the monastery was later built.

And the word Tango literally means 'horse head' and is derived from the deity Tandin (Hayagriva) that features the head of a horse. The revered place of Hayagriva was first recognized by Guru Rinpoche (Guru Padmasambhava) in the eighth century. In 1222 A.D. Phajo Drugom Zhigpo visited the place and while he was involved in his teachings in Dodeyna (Opposite of Tango Monastery), he heard the neighing of a horse approaching from the direction of Tango. On approaching the place, to his surprise he saw a cliff, alleged to be the body of the deity Tandin, engulfed in flames. The deity appeared before him in person and prophesied that Phajo would build a meditation centre at Tango, marry the Dakini, Khando Sonam Peldon and lay the foundations for the Drukpa Kagyu School in Bhutan.
